Wikipedia - Kerala Premier League
The Kerala Premier League is a state-level football league organized by the Kerala Football Association and played in the state of Kerala, India. Founded in 1998, the Kerala Football League was the first football league in Kerala, and was rebranded in 2013 as the Kerala Premier League. For sponsorship reasons it is officially known as the Scoreline Kerala Premier League. It is planned to run parallel to the Kerala Super League.
Kerala United is the current champion in the Kerala Premier League.
History
Kerala Football League
After the introduction of the National Football League by the All India Football Federation, the Kerala Football Association started Kerala Football League (KFL) in 1998. The team finishing top was nominated to 2nd division of the National Football League.[]
1998 season
FC Kochin was crowned the inaugural champion. SBT finished in second place.
1999 season
The second edition of Kerala Football League was held in Kochi and Kollam in December 1999. FC Kochin retained the tille, and SBT FC become the runners up.
2007 season
SBT FC won the title, and Central Excise Kochi become the runners up.
Die Heimspiele des Kovalam FC werden im Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram ausgetragen. Das Stadion hat ein Fassungsvermögen von 40.000 Zuschauern und ist damit das größte Stadion in Kerala.
Die Farben des Kovalam FC sind Blau und Weiß. Das Trikot des Vereins ist blau mit weißen Streifen, die Hose ist weiß und die Stutzen sind blau.
Der Kovalam FC wird von Bino George trainiert. George ist ein ehemaliger indischer Nationalspieler und hat den Verein in der Saison 2016/17 zum Aufstieg in die I-League geführt.
Die bekanntesten Spieler des Kovalam FC sind der indische Nationalspieler Vineeth Kumar und der brasilianische Stürmer Bruno Pelissari.
Der Kovalam FC ist ein ambitionierter Verein, der in Zukunft um die indische Meisterschaft mitspielen möchte. In der Saison 2017/18 erreichte der Verein das Halbfinale des Federation Cup, des indischen Pokalwettbewerbs.
Der Kovalam FC ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil der Fußballszene in Kerala und trägt dazu bei, den Sport in der Region zu fördern. Der Verein ist auch ein Vorbild für andere indische Vereine und zeigt, dass es möglich ist, mit begrenzten Mitteln erfolgreich zu sein.
